Wesley R. Smith

Smith, Wesley R. of Cedarburg, passed away to eternal life on December 2, 2016, age 86 years. Beloved husband of 64 years to Hedy Smith. Loving father of Stephen (Lynne), Mark (Nancy), Craig (Valerie), Laurie (Olav) Vestol, Suzanne (Tom) Knebes, and Julianne (Matt Zine) Smith. Proud grandpa of Shannon (Brendan) Phelan, Max (Jenny) Buser, Melissa Buser, Robin (John) McDonagh, Kelly (Ryan) McWhorter, Lindsay Sanner; Wesley T., Chloe, Evan, and Taylor Smith, Maya and Jacob Benford, and Andrea Vestol. Dear great-grandpa of Oren, Paxton, Hannah, Henry, Julia, Ruby, and Kai. Brother of Elaine Brammer, the late Lois Karshna, the late Phyllis Knock, and the late Carol Eggert. Further survived by many other relatives and friends. Funeral Service Friday, December 9, 2016, 12 Noon at Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church (110 Division St.), Thiensville. Interment Zur Ruhe Cemetery. In state on Friday, at the church, 10AM until 11:45AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated. After graduating from the State Teachers College, Wes taught and coached at Rufus King High School, and later taught Biology at Brown Deer High School where he coached, track, basketball, and football. Wes spent many of his summers enjoying his backyard garden and bird life. He was a talented artist who took pride in his sketches. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Silverado Memory Care for the loving care and compassion that was bestowed to Wes.
