Walter O. Weidman of Cedarburg passed away in his sleep Sunday January 5, 2014 at Lawlis Hospice at the age of 87 from kidney failure and other complications. Walter was born in Jackson, WI on October 30, 1926 the son of the late Louise (nee Berndt) and Walter J. Weidman, the 5th of 6 children. Walter graduated from West Bend High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Army in 1945 and served for 3 years. He then worked at Liberty Mutual until his retirement in 1991. After retirement he volunteered at St. Mary’s Ozaukee and installed life lines at people’s homes until he was declared legally blind and thankfully stopped driving. He also enjoyed going out to eat, watching Jeopardy and the Packers, and completing his crossword puzzle in ink and monthly trips to Potawatomi Casino, and giving his great granddaughter rides on his walker. Walter is survived by his daughter Margaret (Steve) Gloudeman; sons: Walter (Carol) Weidman, and Ken Weidman; grandsons: Paul Gloudeman, Brian Gloudeman and Robert Weidman; great granddaughter, Alyssa Gloudeman; one sister, Marilyn Anderson; cousin Pearl Weidmann, special friends Ruth Peters and Vicky Spencer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth E. Weidman; friend Dorothy Knitter; brothers: Eugene Weidman and Henry Weidman; sisters: Gertrude Abel and Julia Lindenstruth, sister-in-laws: Wilmette Weidman, Ruth Weidman and Martha Weidman; brother-in-laws: Hank Abel, Bob Lindenstruth and Walter Anderson. The family would like to thank Dr. Tom Shewczyk for his friendship and compassionate care for the past 25 years, and the staff at St. Mary’s Ozaukee and Lawlis Hospice for their compassionate care at his last illness. Thank you also to Pastor John Norquist for his visit and prayer service, it brought us and Daddy peace and comfort. Memorial Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, N60W6047 Columbia Road, Cedarburg on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00am. Rev. Brent Halverson will be officiating. Inurnment Immanuel Cemetery. Memorial Gathering will be held at church on Friday from 10:00am until the time of services. Memorials to Ozaukee County Humane Society appreciated.
