After a long and meaningful life, Vivian Jean Sachs passed away on January 23, 2025 at the age of 88. She was born on August 16, 1936, in Neenah Wisconsin, to John J and Elsie L (nee Christianson) Blaha.
Vivian is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Daniel R Sachs; their children: Lynn (Jim) Christmas, Bryan (Kathy), Michele (Keith) Degner, Gail (Forrest) Gallagher, and Cheryl (David) DeBoer. She is further survived by 23 grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jennifer, Spencer, Clayton, Andrew, Zack, Matt, Nick, Kelly, Shannon, Teddy, Alannah, Ethan, Daisy, Billy, Taylor, David, Jack, Noah, Evan, Ella, Zachary, Paisley, and Dane.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsie Blaha, and her sisters Arlette and Norrine. Waiting for her at the door to Heaven was her dearly loved daughter, Kerry (David) Taylor.
Vivian was born into a humble childhood, one that taught her that there was love, joy, and beauty in the world- but she would have to seek it. And, so she sought. When very young, Vivian often wandered in and out of different churches. It was there she found two things that would always sustain her- a love for the Lord, and a love of music. She was blessed with an extraordinary soprano voice that she happily shared with many choirs.
The other thing that Vivian found as a child was her talent for playing tennis. It is not known how she procured a tennis racquet- but the results are known. She had an unusual and wicked backhand and she knew how to use it. As nearly angelic as Vivian was, it was so appropriate that she excelled at a sport that, instead of using zero as a score, used the word Love. But, make no mistake, she was probably going to beat you two sets to Love! The difference was- she did it in the sweetest possible way.
The cornerstone of Vivian’s entire life was the day she married the love of her life, Dan Sachs, September 1, 1956. Together, they built a beautiful life along with their six children. Vivian was a magnificent homemaker, mother, and adored Nana.
Vivian’s legacy will be short and simple, yet profound. “Love one another”. She lavished love on all who had the joy of being near her, and the world is a kinder, gentler, place for her contribution.
The family wishes to thank Vivian’s wonderful caregivers. You were so good to her and we are deeply grateful.
