Timothy L. Fuchs

Timothy Lee Fuchs, 74, of Grafton, Wisconsin, and Dickinson, North Dakota, entered eternal life on April 28, 2022, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Tim was born on September 13, 1947, in Richardton, ND. He grew up in Dickinson and graduated high school in 1965. Tim earned his undergraduate degree in Industrial Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie (1971), Master of Education degree in Reading & Language Arts (1988), and additional graduate coursework from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. Tim married the love of his life, Kathleen (Cathe, nee Ewanic) on August 8, 1971, in Chicago. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last summer with great joy. Tim taught industrial and technical education courses to thousands of students over 32 years at Wisconsin’s Port Washington High School. He also advised students in cooperative education opportunities that often led to full-time employment after graduation. Tim excelled in teaching and mentoring people of all ages. He was a role model teacher and cared deeply about his students. Tim left an indelible, positive imprint on everyone during his teaching career and beyond. Tim was an avid sportsman in the hunting and shooting sports. He enjoyed hunting pheasants, waterfowl, upland game, trap and sporting clay shooting, and fishing. Tim was a meticulous planner. He traveled to many hunting locations in the Midwest, Western U.S. and Canada. Tim was always thinking one step ahead and enjoyed planning future hunts. He worked hard and had a true love of the land and nature. Hunting with family and friends brought Tim much joy, laughter, and good times over the years. Hunter Safety Education was a passion for Tim. With Cathe, they taught hundreds of students over 30 years at the Grafton Police Department and Ozaukee County Fish & Game. The curriculum Tim developed is currently used in hunter education classes in the area. Tim excelled in woodworking, cabinet and furniture design, and custom knife production. He built most of the furniture for their Grafton and Dickinson homes, complemented by Cathe’s decorating talent. Tim and Cathe loved gardening. The harvests contributed to many delicious meals which they loved to prepare together, and often shared with friends, neighbors and caregivers. The dream of owning a home in his beloved Dickinson became a reality in 2015 when Tim and Cathe purchased the beautiful and spacious residence affectionately named The Lodge. Most spring-summer-fall seasons were spent there, for varying periods. Family and friends were always welcome for visits and hunting expeditions. Tim set up a fully appointed shop at The Lodge. The rich North Dakota soil yielded bountiful harvests from their garden there. Their wonderful dogs, Weto and Birch, the latest of many beloved dogs over the decades, loved running and playing in the big yard. The “boys” also were great travelers, somehow knowing that fun and frolic awaited them there. Tim’s honesty, reliability, and straightforward nature made him well-respected by loved ones and friends alike. Tim was eternally generous, always willing to help those in need or wanting to learn about something. He believed in giving everyone a chance. His witty humor, hearty laugh, and hilarious teasing touched the lives of all who knew him. Tim always had a smile or a joke waiting for everyone. He was satisfied with the simple pleasures in life. Tim truly had a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by his deeply saddened family, friends, and community. Tim is survived by Cathe, his beloved wife and best friend of 50+ years and their loving and devoted dogs, Weto and Birch; sister, Peg Piekos (nee Fuchs) (Marty) of Londonderry, NH; brothers Clark Fuchs (Karen Lewis) of Bismarck, ND, and Curt Fuchs (Joanna) of Dickinson, ND; sister-in-law Debbie Allen (Bill) of Columbia, MO; and nieces and nephews Tyler, Zachary, Matthew, Kayla, Aaron, Katie, John, and Robyn. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Walter Fuchs, and mother, Leone (nee Koenig) Fuchs, and brother, Ron Fuchs. Meeting Tim at the Rainbow Bridge are their beloved dogs Pacho, Cisco, Wyatt, and Wesley. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choosing are appreciated.
