Theodore "Ted" R. Wachs

Theodore R. Wachs Ted was the beloved husband of Patricia, wonderful father of Kathryn and Kristin, and proud, loving grandfather of Bennett, Claire, Kayla and Kensley. He is also survived by his sister Sandy, sons-in-law Stephen and Justin and nephew Craig. He was reunited with his parents William and Evelyn and friends who preceded his passing July 15, 2019. He joyfully taught world history, psychology and geography at Nicolet High School for 46 years and coached track, soccer and golf. His positive, strengths-based approach to teaching influenced countless lives. Ted was a voracious reader and social justice activist who pushed people’s thinking with creatively worded questions. The outdoors was also a passion whether camping with family, hiking, spelunking, designing and building model train layouts, golfing, volunteering at Riveredge Nature Center or working at The Bog or University of Miami Marine Lab. At Ted’s request, no formal service will be held. We believe he would encourage us to share hugs and spread kindness instead. The family will host a private celebration of life at a later date. In remembrance, the family has created the BrighT.ED. Fund and Educator Award. The fund will be used exclusively to honor and support exceptional teachers. For more information and to make a tax deductible donation to the BrighT.ED. Fund, please visit SoulSpark Learning’s website at www.soulsparklearning.org.
