On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Dr. Theodore “Ted” F. Raske, Ph.D., PE, of Germantown, was called home to be with his Savior at the age of 88.
Ted was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 8, 1934 to the late Frank and the late Louise Raske. He graduated from Lutheran High School in 1952. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University in 1956, an Engineering Certificate from MSOE in 1958, an M.S. in Math from Marquette University in 1962, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1966.
After graduation, Ted was an assistant professor at the University of Missouri – Rolla in the department of Engineering Mechanics. He was also the department’s faculty advisor to the engineering fraternity. He returned to industry in 1967 and was a senior scientist/principal engineer at Allis-Chalmers Mfg. Co., Falk Corporation, Bucyrus-Erie, and Rexnord Technical Services. His areas of expertise included statistical analysis, mechanical and structural design, and applying the finite element method for product safety and improvement.
Ted was a registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin since 1974 and has lectured in the U.S., Canada, Germany, and South Africa on product design. He was also a member of a faculty team from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, lecturing on non-metallic bearings. He received three patents and authorized fourteen papers published in technical journals. He was a technical reviewer for the journal of the Accoustical Society of America, and was a member of the mechanical and industrial engineering advisory board at Marquette University.
Ted was a R.O.T.C. cadet at Marquette University and was in the active army reserves for six years, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was the honor graduate of the basic army administration school at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in 1957.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ann (nee Wilhlem), dear father of Robert, Thomas, and Rochelle (Midchi) Odya, and proud Pa of Kyra, Alyssa, and Belle. He is further survived by his sister Anna Lou (Heinz) Jungmann, niece Barbara Lemke, and nephew Richard (Jayne) Jungmann, as well as other relatives and friends.
Ted loved many things including spending time with his dogs, traveling, going to the YMCA, watching game shows, and working his puzzles. He also enjoyed volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on various church boards and committees and did painting.
Ted was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Horizon Lawlis Family Hospice for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church - Freistadt, 10729 W. Friestadt Road, Mequon, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 1 pm. A light luncheon will be served following the service, and family will greet guests at that time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church – Freistadt, are appreciated.
