Theodora Jensen

Theodora Jensen, 91, died April 20, 2006 at St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital in Cedarburg, WI, following a short illness. The longtime Williams, IA, resident, who had been living in Cedarburg for the last 11 years, had resided at the Lasata Care Center since 1997. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26 in the Williams United Methodist Church with Rev. Martha Bennett officiating, with a luncheon to follow. Theodora – known as “Ted” to all her longtime friends – kept busy during her final years knitting hundreds of caps and mittens for the Cedarburg United Methodist Church, which were sent to needy children overseas. She also enjoyed reading, following the Milwaukee Brewers and college basketball, and often playing cribbage with her fellow Lasata residents. Theodora M. Jensen, daughter of Theodore and Mollie Johnson, was born at Latimer, IA, on January 4, 1915. She graduated from Latimer High School and attended Beauty School, then moved to Williams and opened a beauty shop on Oct. 10, 1934. On June 23, 1940, she married Wallace Robert Bob Jaynes at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, and they adopted a son, Roger Wray Jaynes, on May 6, 1946. Wallace Robert Bob Jaynes died on June 9, 1953 and on Nov. 14, 1954 Theodora was married to Jens P. Jensen in Williams. The two later sold their house in town and built a new residence on the Jaynes farm north of Williams, where Theodora also operated a beauty shop in her home until 1990. She is survived by son Roger W. Jaynes of Oshkosh, WI, and his wife Mary; step-daughter Donna Hansen of Prairie City, IA, and her husband Herbert; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, including Roger’s son Mickey R. Jaynes of Cedarburg, WI. She was preceded in death by four sisters – Ruth, Gladys, Alma and Loretta, and one grandson, Jeffrey W. Jaynes. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Theodora’s memory may be made to the Williams United Methodist Church.
