Steven R. Destrampe

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 1621 2nd Avenue, Grafton at 2:00pm for longtime resident of Grafton, Steven R. Destrampe who died on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the age of 62 years. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00am to 1:45pm. Memorials to the church or the Milwaukee Rescue Mission are appreciated. Steven was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 15, 1956, the son of Delores (nee Chaput) and the late Robert Destrampe. As a child, Steve enjoyed camping with his family at Peninsula State Park in Door County. He adopted his father’s love for motorcycles in his teenage years, racing “mini-bikes” with his brother at a local park. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, an emphasis in mathematics. His aptitude for numbers and logic sparked a career in computer programming. Shortly after college, he married and had two boys. He then moved his family to Colorado Springs, CO, where he had another son. There, he developed a love for hiking and skiing in the Rocky Mountains. In 1997, Steven and his former wife, Sandra, adopted their two daughters from Russia. A few years later, he moved his family back to Wisconsin, settling in the Grafton area. In Grafton, he became an active member of his church, including a mission trip to Honduras and other volunteer work. Steve’s good nature, generosity, and contagious laughter helped him foster relationships throughout his community. He also loved all things Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. But most of all, Steve loved his boys, his girls, and his five grandchildren. Steve is survived by his children, Mark (Noelle), Eric (Kristin), Shaun (Julia), Maria, and Elena Destrampe; grandchildren, Nora, Madeline, Kyleigh, Kennedy, and Lila, mother; Delores Destrampe and siblings Michael (Debbie), AnnMarie (Gary) Krajewski and Vickie (Eric) Silberschmidt. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Steve is preceded in death by his dad, Robert.
