Sharon M. Dhein of Birchwood, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024 at the age of 81 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, David Dhein just a few months earlier. Loving mother of Joel (Jackie) Dhein and Jill Minette (Troy Stafford). Proud grandmother of Carly and Holly Dhein and Tanner and Madison Minette.
Sharon was born on April 17, 1942 in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Arnold and Marie Ulrich (nee Rempke). She lived in Stratford, Wisconsin and graduated from Stratford High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Wausau and worked at Wausau Insurance Company. Sharon married her high-school sweetheart, David Dhein in 1962. They moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin after David’s graduation from UW-Stevens Point. While living in Eau Claire, Sharon worked at UW-Eau Claire as the manager of the bookstore. She was also a wallpaper installer and installed coverings in both residential and commercial spaces. In 1990, they moved to Red Cedar Lake in Birchwood, Wisconsin. Sharon loved living on the lake where she spent many hours fishing, boating and listening to the loons. Anybody who knew Sharon, knew that she enjoyed taking care of others and it is with this passion that she found fulfillment working in the Special Education Department in the Birchwood School District for ten years until her retirement.
Being a grandmother brought her much joy and she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren sharing her painting, cooking and fishing skills. As an artist, Sharon was inspired in her earlier years with her signature oil paintings of outdoor scenery and well as detailed handmade figurines. Like her husband, Sharon was also an avid golfer and a big Brewer fan. She enjoyed golfing in a league at Tagalong Golf Course in the summers and bowling with her friends in the winters.
Sharon is survived by her sister Judy (Marvin) Kroening and brother Dennis (Betty) Ulrich, nephews: Brian (Lisa) Kroening, Kurt (Susan) Kroening and niece Sherry (Mark) Pankow.
A celebration of life for both Sharon and Dave will be held together at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 E. Chetac Avenue in Birchwood, Wisconsin on Friday, May 31 starting at 10:00 am to meet the family in the gathering area followed by the service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/wi.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Harvest Home and to the team at Heartland Hospice. Their loving care given to Sharon during her time at Harvest Home and the extra-special attention given to her when David passed away was invaluable. The support for her family in her final days helped bring peace and comfort.
