Selma M. Tews

Selma M. Tews came into this world on November 13, 1917. She was one of eleven children born to Arthur and Ella Gierach. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Friestadt, Wisconsin. On June 5, 1937, she married Harry H. Tews at Trinity Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children: Carolyn (Pastor Karl) Vertz, Judy and her late husband (Pastor Robert) Diener, and Roger (Lynne) Tews. She had ten grandchildren: Jon (Peggy) Vertz, Pastor Tod (Beth) Vertz, Tricia (Matthew) Affholter, Joy (Matthew) Huber, Lisa Marie (Michael) Olson, Nathan Diener, Adam Diener, Michelle (Andy) Korolewski, Justin Tews, Michael Tews and fourteen great grandchildren. Selma and her late husband Harry were very supportive of Christian education for their children. She was an active, faithful member of David's Star Lutheran Church (Kirchhayn), Jackson, Wisconsin where she was involved in the Ladies’ Aid Society in which she held several offices. Selma was predeceased by her husband Harry, brothers Elmer (Linda), Erwin (Evelyn), Reinhold (Edna), Norbert (Edna), Helmuth (Edna), Edward (Leona), Arthur (Alida) Gierach and sisters Irene (Edmund) Butzke, Norma (Herbert) Hafemeister, and Leona (Henry) Hamann. She also was predeceased by her brother in laws, Arnold (Flora), Winfred (Margaret), Nelson (Lucy), Allen (Ada) Tews and sister in laws, Olga (Alvin) Pipkorn, Irene (Alex) Bublitz, nieces, nephews and many traveling and card playing friends. Selma went to her eternal home on December 8, 2015 at Kathy Hospice in West Bend, Wisconsin. Her Christian funeral will be conducted at David's Star Lutheran Church, Jackson, Wisconsin on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at 4:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 1-4 P.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that Memorials be given to David's Star Lutheran Church or their Ladies Aid Society. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." Revelation 14:13
