Ruben J. Kohlwey

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday February 3, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church (701 Washington St., Grafton) at 3:00pm with Rev. Kenton Wendorf officiating for Ruben J. Kohlwey, of Saukville who died at Horizon Hospice located in Columbia St. Mary Ozaukee Campus on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the age of 93 years. Cake and coffee will follow the service. Ruben was born in Cedarburg, Wisconsin on Tuesday, April 17, 1917, the son of the late George and Anna (nee Behrens) Kohlwey. Ruben was one of ten children. Ruben was a dairy farmer all of his life. He farmed in Cedarburg until 1960 and then moved to Saukville to purchase his own dairy farm. Ruben saw changes in farming like hauling hay with the horses to hauling hay with tractor power. Ruben married Evelyn A. Frank on February 14, 1942 and were blessed with 4 children. Ruben has been a life-time parishioner of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton, Wisconsin. Ruben loved vacationing in Winter Haven, Florida and was hoping to go back and visit. Ruben is survived by his wife Evelyn of 68 years, sons; Dean (Martha), James (Trudel), David (Deb) and Neil Kohlwey, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, sisters; Anita Eulert, Florence (the late Gerald) Rathke and Renata (Kenneth) Rappold, sisters-in-law; Lillian Kohlwey and Shirley Kohlwey, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Walter, Benoit, George, and sisters; Georgiana Rettmann, Esther Koeller and Eleonora Dobberfuhl.
