Roland A. Helm

Roland Allen Helm, a son given by the Lord to Louis and Adelia Helm, was born at home in Granton, Wisconsin on July 15, 1937. Rol went to his eternal home in heaven on October 7, 2012 to be with the Savior he faithfully served for 75 years. Rol lived his life wrapped in the love of Jesus. His childhood was spent on the farm in Granton with his parents and three brothers. The values of faith, family and hard work were instilled in him from an early age. On August 1, 1959 he was married to his best friend, Beverly Meissner, whom he dearly loved, in Chili, Wisconsin. Together, for more than 53 years, they experienced the changing seasons of life in joyous and steadfast companionship and service to the Lord, and celebrated the many blessings which God had entrusted to them. Surviving along with his wife Beverly are his five children and their families: Randy and Julie Helm, Renee and Kevin Gosselin, Rick and Ellen Helm, Rob and Lisa Helm, Ryan and Lori Helm and his seventeen beautiful, cherished grandchildren: Jenny, Dan, Tom and Jessy Helm, Ben, Becca and Rachel Gosselin, Katie, Eric and Michael Helm, Josh, Lauren, Tyler and Lanie Helm and Abby, Jacob and Sarah Helm. He is also remembered and loved by sisters-in-law Beverly Helm, Doreen Helm, Elda Helm O’Brien, Bonnie (Doug) Fish and Brenda (Tony) Shaw and brothers-in-law Larry (Judy) Meissner, Lloyd (Marilyn) Meissner, Lavern (Lu) Meissner and Dale (Sandy) Meissner, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who admired his service to the Lord and love for family. Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis and Adelia Helm and his three brothers, Walter, Norman and Eldon. Rol loved many things in life: God’s Word, his work as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Cedarburg School District, baseball, fishing with his sons and grandchildren, coaching, serving his church in many leadership roles, singing in the choir, traveling with his bride, and the outdoors. His greatest concern was the spiritual welfare of his family. His favorite places included his home and yard in Cedarburg and the A-frame on Lake Kristine in Saxeville, Wisconsin. His favorite day of the week was Sunday when he had the privilege to praise his Lord in worship. By far his favorite pastime was spending time with his wife and family, making others happy and inspiring his children and grandchildren to live lives of faith and love. A Christian celebration of Rol’s life will be held on Friday, October 12th, at 1:00 p.m. at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, W67N622 Evergreen Blvd., in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rol had a faithful commitment to the building program and Guardian Angel ministry as he strived to further God’s kingdom on earth. His family cherishes the memories of his faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus’ faithful love for him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Immanuel Lutheran Church appreciated.
