Robert “Robb” Schmit passed away unexpectedly in his home in Grafton, WI on May 2nd at the age of 59. He was born on August 17th, 1963 to Rosemary and the late Gene Schmit. As a young child, he and his brothers worked as the coat check during the many wedding and events held at his parents’ ballroom, Schmit’s Pavilion. Robb attended grade school at St. Joseph’s Parish School and high school at Grafton High, where he was a football standout, earning himself a scholarship to Indiana University. While at Indiana, he played defensive tackle for the notable coaches Lee Corso, Sam Wyche, and Bill Mallory. Robb earned Co-Captain his senior season and graduated with a business degree. It is at IU where he met his wife Stacy, which he would say was his biggest accomplishment. They married July 12th, 1986. Together, they returned to Grafton to begin his career in sales. After a brief time in the air freight industry, Robb and Stacy started their business, Fastsigns of Glendale and just recently sold and retired after 31 years. They raised three children, Aaron, Andrew, and Alyssa. In the family suburban, they traveled all over the U.S, Canada, and Sweden for hockey tournaments. They continued to support their children in academics and athletics when they attended prep school at the Culver Academies in Indiana and through their collegiate athletic careers at their respective universities. Robb and Stacy fell in love with Lake Maxinkuckee located in Culver because of its beauty and central location to their children who live in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. This is where Robb and Stacy have recently completed building their dream home and have spent the last two years enjoying retirement. Robb loved boating, fishing, spending time at the lake with family and friends, and his daily walks with his canine companion, Lacy.
Robb is survived by his wife Stacy (nee Brown); children: Aaron (Alexandria), Andrew (Kaley Mooney), and Alyssa (Charlie) Radke; five grandchildren, his mother Rosemary, brother Rick (JoAnn), mother-in-law Judy, sister-in-law Shelley, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his aunts Joann (Rich) Paulus and Bette Ott. He is preceded in death by his father Gene and brother Randy.
