Robert H. Veloon (Bob)

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 12 Noon at Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Grafton for Robert H. Veloon Bob, of Cedarburg and formerly of Grafton, who died on March 4, 2011, at the age of 87. Visitation will be held at the church Friday from 10AM until the time of the service. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Grafton. Rev. Franz Rigert will officiate the service. Bob was born in Milwaukee on March 13, 1923, a son of Christ and Laura (nee Syperko) Veloon. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee where he was baptized and confirmed. On September 6, 1947, he married Delores Philipps at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Bob owned Veloon Service Station in the Town of Grafton. After closing the station (but retaining the property), he worked for Simplicity for a while. Bobs former service station became his own private workshop until he left Simplicity, and he re-invented his former business into Veloon Welding where he worked until he retired. Bobs big hobby and niche in life was fixing stuff, anything anyone would bring to him, especially if it was made of steel. He loved it when the farmers would bring their equipment in to him. Bob repaired cars and built his own forklift, lawn mower and snowplow. He and Delores never had a bill for a handyman because Bob would fix everything in the house himself, including electrical and plumbing work. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of over 63 years, Delores; children Bette (Jim) Shuler of Palm Springs CA, Christine Veloon of Eugene OR, Annette Veloon of Clearwater FL and Robert C. (Chari) Veloon of Waubeka; siblings Elmer (Dorothy) Veloon of Cedarburg, Gloria Schwengle of Newburg, Melvin Veloon of Hartford and Donald Veloon of Plymouth; brother-in-law Myron (Delores) Philipps of Cedarburg; sister-in-law Lucille (Jerome) Kannenburg of Apache Junction AZ; other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Arthur Philipps. Memorials: Memorials to Pilgrim UCC or Hartland Hospice appreciated.
