Robert J. Cabelka
April 10, 1949 - September 26, 2023
Bob Cabelka, Cedarburg, WI age 74, died in the loving comfort of family on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023. Bob was born in Janesville, WI on April 10, 1949 to Frank and Winifred Cabelka. He graduated from Craig High School in Janesville in 1967 and went on to pursue a degree in Chemistry from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI where he met his wife, Cathy. As a man who valued hard work and education, he went on to further pursue his Masters in Business Administration from UW-Milwaukee all while continuing to work full-time at Froedtert Malt and raising four children at home.
Although focused on building a foundation in life through education and work, Bob was always there for his family. He prioritized attending his children's activities and sought to create meaningful memories. Many experiences centered on his love for travel and the outdoors - camping in the national parks, fishing in Canada, as well as numerous local trips around Wisconsin and Minnesota where he spent most of his life.
In his later years, he enjoyed providing for his family by taking over the cooking and baking responsibilities, relegating Cathy to the sous-chef role. His gingerbread cookies, dinner rolls, and homemade ravioli became family traditions over the years. He further dedicated himself to staying fit and active as a regular at the local gym, which served him well in his role as a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cathy; children: Nicole Cabelka, Christine (Ronald Johnson) Cabelka, Joseph (Rachel) Cabelka, and Karen (Katie) Cabelka; grandchildren: Lucas, Charlotte, and Nolan Cabelka; brother and sister: John (Dinah) Cabelka and Joann Jackson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary (Craig) Niemann, Joseph Jacquot, Jr., Carolyn (Jeff) Kummerow, Tom Jacquot, Bob (Julie) Jacquot; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Winifred Cabelka, father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Irma Jacquot.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Grafton, WI beginning at 10am until the time of Mass at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that any donations be directed toward Froedtert Hospital Foundation (https://my.froedterthospitalfoundation.org/makeagift) or the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks (https://newfwsp.blogspot.com/p/contributions-membership.html).
Bob’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the Oncology and ICU staff at Froedtert Medical College for their compassionate care, especially in Bob's final hours as he was welcomed home by his heavenly Father.
