Richard T. Oestreich
Richard T. Oestreich, of Jackson, passed away peacefully at his home,
surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the
age of 87 years.
Richard was born on August 9, 1936, in Ixonia, Wisconsin, the son of the
late Herbert Oestreich and the late Elda (nee Kuester) Oestreich. He was
baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, Wisconsin. He grew
up on the family farm in Ixonia, and later enjoyed a career operating heavy
machinery. Richard also served his country in the United States National
Guard.
Richard met the love of his life Gladys Rusch and they were united in
marriage on October 5, 1963, at David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church,
Kirchhayn. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Mark, Tim, Todd, and Michelle.
Richard had great faith in his Lord Jesus Christ, and an undying love for his
family. He was an active member at David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church,
where he served His Lord in many ways.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys (nee Rusch) Oestreich,
children: Mark (Ginger) Oestreich, Tim (Tracy) Oestreich, Todd (Colleen)
Oestreich, and Michelle (Guy) Russ; grandchildren: Christopher, Robert
(Shannon), and Elijah Oestreich, Tyler Oestreich, Taylor (Maxwell) Fischer,
Logan and Braiden Oestreich, Hailey (fiancé Ryan Gurgel) Russ, Samuel,
Josie, and Sadie Russ; great-grandchildren, Keira and Briella Oestreich,
siblings, Margaret Dament and Frederick (Machelle) Oestreich,
sisters-in-law, Joan Oestreich, Dorothy Rusch, and Arlene Rusch, and
brother-in-law, John Goeglein. He is further survived by many other
relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws,
John and Laura Rusch, siblings, Charlotte Goeglein and Daniel Oestreich,
and brothers-in-law, Rev. Gerald Dament, Leonard Rusch, and Marvin Rusch.
His Christian funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, 3:00
PM at David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church (2740 David’s Star Dr.), Jackson.
Visitation will be at the church, from 1:00 PM until the time of service. A
private interment will take place at David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, memorials to David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church or Kettle
Moraine Lutheran High School are appreciated.
A special thank you to the Froedtert Hospital Cancer Care Center, in
Menomonee Falls, as well as Horizon Home Care and Hospice, for all of
their wonderful care and compassion.
