Richard M. Gerfin "Dick

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan.10, 2008 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North in Cedarburg, for Richard "Dick" Gerfin. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 6 PM followed by mass at 6 PM. Fr. Michael Lightner will officiate. Gerfin was born on June 11, 1926 in Milwaukee to the late Harry and Jeanette (nee Komassa) Gerfin. Dick served overseas as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army from 1944 1946. In 1948, Dick married Sabina "Sally" Moroder. Dick became a machinist and also worked in the tool and die industry. He retired from Allen-Bradley in Cedarburg after 17 years. After retirement, Dick loved working part-time at Ace Hardware in Cedarburg and Mequon. Dick always enjoyed working with his hands, listening to music, and watching the Packers and Brewers. Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years Sabina "Sally"; his five children, Tom (Candi) Gerfin of Grayslake, IL., Susan (Dan) Gleason of Brookfield, Barbara (Wayne) Novotny of Wind Lake, Joanne (Peter) Leiby of Delafield, and Jenny (Charlie) Karpelenia of Portage; 15 grandchildren, Christopher, Katie, and Stefanie Gerfin, John, Nick, David, and Sarah Gleason,; Jason (Angela) and Laura Novotny, Jake, Josh, and Tori Leiby, Alex, Jack, and Ian Karpelenia; one great-grandchild, Eleanor Novotny; in-laws Dorothy Gerfin of Milwaukee, Barbara Moroder of Milwaukee, Jerrie Moroder of Fox Point, and Rudy (Barbara) Moroder of Shorewood; and many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Harold, Melvin, and Robert Gerfin, and Alice Hoff.
