Richard F. Dobberfuhl

Richard F. “Dick” Dobberfuhl, of Mequon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Alexian Village, at the age of 88 years. Dick was born in Freistadt, on January 2, 1928, the son of the late Alvin Dobberfuhl and the late Louise (nee Radue) Dobberfuhl. He attended Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and School, and was confirmed in his faith, at Trinity. Dick graduated from Cedarburg High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Concordia, in Mequon. Dick served his country in the United States Army, from 1951 until 1953, serving as an interpreter in Germany, during the Korean Conflict. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Army, Dick was united in marriage to Marjorie Blake, on October 10, 1954, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, in Milwaukee. Their marriage was blessed with four sons, Tom, Peter, Steven, and David Paul. Dick was employed by P & H, working as a safety engineer for over 25 years. He enjoyed his career as an engineer, but he truly enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was in his yard or in the woods. His true love however, was spending time with his beloved family. Dick was a man of great faith, and was an active member at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Freistadt. He sang in the church choir, and also donated many of his God-given talents to the church. Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie, sons, Tom (Ann) Dobberfuhl, Peter (Sandra) Dobberfuhl, and Steven Dobberfuhl; grandchildren, Melissa (Jim) Tillitson, Tim (Amy) Dobberfuhl, Kristi (Brian) Penley, Christopher, Melissa, Aaron, Bradley, and Eric Dobberfuhl; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Blake; and brother, Rev. Gerhard Dobberfuhl. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, son, David Paul Dobberfuhl and brothers, Erich, Walter, and Helmuth Dobberfuhl. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, 1PM at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church (10729 W. Freistadt Rd.), Mequon, with Rev. Carl Lehenbauer presiding. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 11AM until 12:45PM, on Saturday, at the church. Dick will be laid to rest at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church or to the family are appreciated.
