Renata (Renny) Rappold

Renny was peacefully called home to her Lord & Savior on Tuesday May 28th. Renny was born on February 6th, 1925, to George and Anna (Behrens) Kohlwey. She was the youngest of 10 children. She went to a one room schoolhouse in the town of Cedarburg and later to Saint Paul’s Lutheran grade school in Grafton. Renny graduated from Cedarburg High School. While in high school Renny started dating a boy who became the love of her life and husband, Ken Rappold. They were married on August 18th, 1945, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grafton. They were three days short of celebrating their 70th anniversary when Ken passed away August 15th, 2015.

For much of her early marriage Renny was a stay-at-home mom as she had three young children. Nine years later they were blessed with their 4th child.

In 1956 they became charter members of Faith Lutheran Church in Cedarburg and were very active as the church was being built. Renny was a member of the Sunrise Circle and over the years Renny helped make hundreds of quilts for missions. She was still sewing quilts when she was 98 years old. Both Renny and Ken were involved in a number of Bible studies and members of the Senior Chior.

In 1960 they had their house built in Cedarburg and lived there for 62 years. in the early 1960’s they were foster parents for 7 or 8 infants. In the late 1960’s Renny worked part time at the Cedarburg public library for 17 years.

They had many friends and belonged to a card club for years. Renny was a good cook and great baker. She made many rhubarb and apple pies, great coffee cakes and thousands of chocolate chip cookies over the years.

Family was very important to her, all the holidays were spent at her home, until two years ago when she moved to Lasata Crossings in Cedarburg.

Renny was preceded in death by her husband Ken, her oldest son Ron, her nine siblings and their spouses, and Ken’s parents, siblings, and spouses.

Renny is survived by her children Beverly (Glenn) Yurske, Thomas (Sandra) Rappold, Bruce (Debra) Rappold and daughter in-law Linda Rappold. She also has 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

We wish to thank all the staff at Lasata Crossings for helping make her last two years such a joy. The activities kept her busy and she really liked bingo. The care that the staff shows to all the residents is such a blessing to families. God bless you all!

Her last few weeks were spent in hospice care at Lasata Care Center. She got loving care from both Horizon Hospice and Lasata Care Center.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 4:00PM at Faith Lutheran Church (N35 W6621 Wilson Ave.), Cedarburg. In state, on Sunday, at the church, from 2:00PM – 3:45PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Faith Lutheran Church are appreciated.
