Raymond Earl Leatherman

A funeral and celebration of life service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Mueller Funeral Home, Grafton, for Raymond E. Leatherman of Grafton, age 89 years, who went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home in Grafton on Saturday from 11AM until time of service. Interment at Graftons Woodlawn Cemetery. Ray was born in Bucks County, PA, on July 22, 1920 to Charles and Sarah. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a tailor aboard a ship in the Pacific Theater. Upon discharge he attended Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, NE, where he met his bride of 60 years, Dorothy. They lived in numerous places before finally settling in Grafton with their 7 children. Ray supported his family as a self-employed carpenter until he retired with a summer job at a canning factory near Crivitz, WI, where he also kept a little home away from home. Throughout his life he loved to sing, especially gospel hymns, but his favorite hobby was collecting things everything. Ray was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy and the loving father of the late Joy Leatherman, Tim (Wendy) Leatherman, Philip Leatherman, Jenny (Dean) Albrecht, Judy (Fred) Hendler, Jolinda (Joe) Heroux and Jon (fiance Sheila) Leatherman. He was the dearest grandpa and legal guardian to Joys daughters, Jolene Jaeger and Jackie (Brad) Waldoch. He is further survived by 17 additional grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Arthur (the late Lulu) Leatherman; sister Grace (Richard) Myers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many wonderful friends.
