Oscar W. Dommer

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 4PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton, for Oscar W. Dommer, age 90, of the Town of Saukville who died on October 2, 2010. Visitation from 2PM until the time of service. Rev. Kenton Wendorf to officiate. Interment at St. Paul Lutheran cemetery in Grafton. Memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation are appreciated. Oscar was born in the town of Saukville on March 11, 1920, to the late Fredrick and the late Anna (nee Sudbrink) Dommer. He attended Port Washington High School where he was a 3 letter winner in baseball, track and football, graduating in 1938. Oscar married Evelyn E. Hartman on May 11, 1946, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Oscar played for many years for the Land ORivers baseball team which later became the Land OLakes team. He won numerous awards for high batting in 1949, 1950 and 1951.Oscar worked his entire life as a dairy farmer at the family farm in Saukville. He was a sports enthusiast. Oscar also liked to play sheepshead. He was a member of the Grafton Senior Citizens and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Oscar worked on the school board for the Saukville Public Schools for one term. Oscar is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Evelyn; children Joan (Tom) Weinrich, Jan Dommer and Ken (Mary Lou) Dommer; sister-in-law Lillian (the late Harold) Hartman; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Henry (Viola) Dommer, Edwin (Betty) Dommer Arthur (Audrey) Dommer; and sisters Flora (Douglas) Paape, Hulda (Norb) Sauer and Esther Holdorf.
