Oliver A. ‘Tony” Johannes passed away at the Forest Haven Residential Facility, in Fredonia, on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the age of 81 years. Tony was born on January 18, 1937 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Michael Johannes and the late Leona (nee Lauer) Johannes. Tony attended catholic grade school and later graduated from Milwaukee Boy’s Tech High School, in 1955. Shortly after receiving his diploma, Tony served his country in the United States Army from September of 1955, until he was honorably discharged in August of 1958. Tony was united in marriage to Barbara Kell on October 5, 1963 together they were blessed with three sons, Mike, Jim, and Bill. He was employed by American Motors for 9 years and then went on to work for the Milwaukee County Park Systems until he retired in 1995, after 27 years of dedicated service. Tony loved his Green Bay Packers as well as rooting for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Bucks. He enjoyed watching his favorite actor John Wayne in all of the old westerns, but he mostly enjoyed being around his family. Tony is survived by his sons, Mike (Linda) Johannes, Jim (Tammy Cain) Johannes, and Bill (Tracy) Johannes; grandchildren, Josh (Abby), Ryan (fiancée Megan), Trevor, Allie (Nick), Niki (Michael), Maddie (Joe), and Noah (Morgan); and great grandchildren, Riley and soon to be baby Zayden. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara and siblings, Leon Johannes and Kathy Punio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018, 12 Noon at Divine Savior Catholic Church – Holy Cross Chapel, in Belgium. In state on Monday, at the church from 11AM until the time of the Mass. Tony will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, in Fredonia. Memorials in Tony’s name can be made out to the American Lung Cancer Association, the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Program, or the Wounded Warrior Project. The family would especially like to thank the entire staff at Forest Haven as well as Allay Hospice for all of their wonderful and loving care.
