Naomi H. Dassow

Naomi H. Dassow,

Of Mequon, was called home to our Lord on November 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 75. She was born on February 5, 1949 in Niles, Michigan, to her late parents Norman and Helen Koerwitz (nee Weyland). She was united in marriage with Richard F Dassow on April 21, 1979, at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church. Together, their marriage was blessed with three children, Michael, Peter, and Ami.

Naomi studied at Wisconsin State University-Eau -Claire and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She soon realized her degree and used her gift of nursing to make a positive impact on the world near and far. Briefly teaching in Eau Claire’s Nursing Program, she found her first position at a rural health clinic in Hazard, Kentucky, working with local families in the hills of Appalachia. After several years Naomi reluctantly returned to Milwaukee, but was blessed to soon meet her future husband, Richard! Naomi worked with several home care agencies in Milwaukee throughout the years. She blessed many lives during her time with St. Michael’s Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, New Perspectives and the North Shore Health Department. Naomi had a heart of service. Alongside career and family, she volunteered through various agencies. As a registered nurse, she lent her gifts to support children from around the world in the Dassow household through Heal the Children. Naomi and Richard shared the Lord’s love through their partnerships with the Red Cross, volunteer Chaplains for the Salvation Army, ministries with Eastbrook Church and many more throughout the years. They were quite the team!

One particular foundation close to her heart is Foundation for His Ministry, baja Mexico and Oaxaca. She visited the orphanage throughout the years with and without family, volunteering her services and time in any way needed. Richard and Naomi also supported many children from the orphanage financially allowing them the opportunity to grow surrounded by God’s love. Naomi’s life reflected her devotion to her Christian faith and her commitment to Jesus. She held close the friendships that developed as she grew in faith through various women’s studies at Divine Shepherd, Eastbrook and Alliance Bible Church. When time permitted one would find Naomi snuggled in her favorite chair with a good book or taking lovely drives to see nature with her favorite tourguide, Richard.

Naomi is loved and will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Richard; her three children, Dr. Michael (Judy) Jung, Major Peter J. Dassow, esq., and Ami (Rob) Dassow-Oldenburg; grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Nicholas, and Sienna Jung; Evelynd and Ethan Dassow and Langdon Oldenburg along with her favorite grand-puppy, Indica Dassow Oldenburg. She is further survived by Jan Koerwitz along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends in the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Helen and her siblings, Norman Koerwitz and Gretchen (John) Ficken.

There will be a celebration of life held for Naomi at Alliance Bible Church in Mequon at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till service time at the church. Naomi will be buried at Graceland Cemetery.
