Mona E. Braaten

Mona E. Braaten (nee Carlsen)

Of Iron Ridge, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away on January 20, 2023 at the age of 76. She was born on January 27, 1946 to her late parents, Ejner Carlsen and Elizabeth (nee Maebo).

Mona was born in Lillesand, Norway which she then moved to Oconto at the age of 20 and eventually lived in Milwaukee. She met her beloved husband, Roc Braaten and they were united in marriage in 1994. Mona had many passions, she loved gardening, reading, and knitting, but her true passion was traveling to her hometown in Norway. Others would describe Mona to be the most caring and kind person. Mona worked at Rockwell Automation and eventually retired in 2003.

Mona is survived by her husband, Roc, her son, Brian (Nola) Zemlicka, and one grandson, Ethan Zemlicka. Along with her two sisters, Edle Carlsen and Anne-Grethe (Henrik) Drehn, and her dog, Meenah, she is further survived by many other friends and family. Mona is preceded in death by her parents, Ejner and Elizabeth.

There will be a celebration of life for Mona held at the Cultural Center in Cedarburg from 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
