Milton was born to eternal life on April 22, 2022, at the age of 73, at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. A private celebration of Milton’s life will be held for family and close friends. Milton was born on December 18, 1948, in Milwaukee, WI and grew up in Whitefish Bay. He graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1967. Milton joined the Army in November of 1967 and served a tour in Vietnam from April 1968 to April 1969. He served in the Airborne Infantry as the point man in a long-range reconnaissance patrol. Upon return, he attended Milwaukee Area Technical College. Milton was an avid traveler, and over his lifetime visited more than 20 different countries. He and his children took a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands most recently. He is survived by his children; Lori (David) Warren of Milton, WI, and Tom (Becky) Gaertig of Cedarburg, WI, and granddaughters Savannah Warren, Lauren Gaertig, and Brooke Gaertig. Additionally, he is survived by brother Roger (Kathy) Gaertig, and sister Dolores (Pete) Nelson. Milton is preceded in death by his father Harry William Rudolph Gaertig and mother Gladys Dorothy Hahn, as well as his brother Howard and sister Joyce and half-sisters Virginia and June. Milton’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. Memorials in honor of Milton may be made to Graftons’ USS Liberty Memorial Public Library or the Ozaukee County Humane Society.
