Michael M. Chantler

Michael Martindale Chantler Of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2012 at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 58 years, daughter Helen (Marc), son Chris (Heather), grandsons Oliver and Simon, brother Peter, numerous nephews and nieces, godchildren and many, many friends. Born in Cheshire, England, Michael was educated at Chester Cathedral School founded by King Henry VIII, and started working for Cutler/Hammer in 1941. As Marketing and Sales Director of United Kingdom operations he lived and worked in several locations around the UK before he and his family moved to Malaysia where he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive of Tamco Cutler/Hammer, a joint venture company in Malaysia and Singapore, later acquired by Eaton Corporation. During his time in Malaysia, Michael was President of the St. George's Society and founder of the POETS, a gourmet dining association. Michael was transferred to the United States in 1978, and the family put down roots in Cedarburg. His career in multi-national sales and marketing resulted in expanding Eaton’s presence in key global markets. Amazingly, his career with this same company lasted 68 years. During which time he traveled the world, forged friendships and lived an entertaining life. Known for his quirky sense of humor, razor-sharp wit, love of his family and fine foods. Michael was much loved by everyone who knew him. Friends and colleagues of Michael are invited to join the family in a celebration of Michael’s life on Saturday, April 21, from 1pm-4pm at Lake Park Bistro, 3133 East Newberry Blvd, Milwaukee.
