Michael James Riebe passed away peacefully on July 14th, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on the 27th of July, 1942 and grew up in Grafton where his family owned an Oldsmobile dealership. He graduated from Grafton High School, class of 1960. He went on to earn his Law Degree from Marquette University and began practicing in Grafton shortly thereafter. Mike loved the game of baseball, both playing and coaching. He met his future wife, Carolyn, when he started coaching her softball team. They were married in 1978 and were blessed with four children. Mike was passionate about all sports, especially baseball and basketball. His beloved team, the Marquette Warriors (Golden Eagles) gave him more than 50 years of thrills, heartaches, excitement and pure joy. His family shared that same enthusiasm and attended many games with him over the years. He loved to explore and had a special way of finding “hidden gems” - the best restaurants, shops and attractions - and he was proud and eager to share those places and experiences with his family and friends. His favorite place to spend time away from home was at “Cool-Sha-Nagh”, a shared family property in northern Wisconsin. It inspired in him a great love for nature; he really enjoyed the simplicity, beauty and peacefulness of the Northwoods. It truly was his happy place. Michael was an honest man who was strong in his faith and would do anything for his family and friends. He was never the loudest one in the room (unless a Marquette game was on TV), but his presence was always felt. He had a unique, witty sense of humor and told the best stories and jokes. He was smart in many ways and somehow knew the correct answer for just about every trivia question. He may have shown up a few minutes (or hours) late for things, but he was aways there…”Riebe time.” Michael is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Ann Riebe (nee Brenner), and his sister Patricia. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Carolyn, children James (Sarah), Elizabeth (Tyler) L’Allier, Joe (Kim), and Allie. Further survived by sister Ruth Ann (Jonathan) Weber and brother William, along with grandchildren Loretta, Jax, Henry, Amelia, Clara and Benjamin. A Memorial Mass will take place on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Parish Catholic Church, 1619 Washington St., Grafton. Following Mass there will be a Celebration of Life at Milwaukee Ale House, 1208 13th Ave., Grafton, starting at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Wisconsin Chapter or The Ozaukee County Humane Society are appreciated.
