Michael J. Hoffmann

Michael J. Hoffmann of Cedarburg, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 1st, 2018 at the age of 70 while traveling to visit family. Michael was born in Port Washington, WI on November 21, 1947 and was the youngest son of the late Roman & Anita (Hilty) Hoffmann. He graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1965. He was united in marriage to Vernita L. Viesselmann on June 3, 1967 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Michael was a hardworking and devoted man. Kindness filled his heart. He had a gentle and quiet presence. He worked his entire life for his family’s business, Louis C. Hoffmann & Son. He enjoyed years of weekly bowling league, snowmobile club, golfing, fishing, playing cards, casino trips, as well as watching the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. Michael especially enjoyed gatherings with friends and family. Much of his later life was spent providing care and support to his wife. He had a selfless soul. He was a proud Father, but his grandchildren were the light of his life. They warmed his heart with their presence and put a twinkle in his eye, especially his oldest grandson, CJ, who was more like a son to him. They truly shared a special bond. Michael loved to travel, but he did not have many opportunities to fulfill this dream of adventure. He was taken from this life too soon and will be deeply missed. Michael was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life for over 50 years, just a few months ago, his oldest brother David L. Hoffmann, Sr., his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his children: DeAnne Hoffmann of Cedarburg and Stacie (Aaron) Wurster of Onalaska, WI; grandchildren: CJ, Aly, Brady, Ben and Max; great-grandchild: Timothy; siblings: William (Maureen) Hoffmann of Brown Deer, WI and Nancy Hoffmann of LaCenter, WA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials to charity of your choice are appreciated. Private family services will be held.
