A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 19, 2004 - 2:30 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg for Merle P. Meinert, who died on December 16, 2004 at Cedar Community in West Bend. Visitation was at the funeral home on Sun. from 11:30 AM until time of service with burial at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, Cedarburg. Memorials of your choice appreciated. Rev. Dale Erickson officiating. Merle was born in Muskegon, MI on June 6, 1912 the son of the late Art and Edna Nee Campbell Meinert. He married Dorothy Polzin on August 17, 1935. Merle loved working in the greenhouse and traveling, raising Registered Belgians and attending draft horse shows. He also made full-size and miniature horse drawn wagons. He is survived by his children: Jean the late Robert Haas, Richard, Betty Spaltner, Rex Nancy and Joan Jim Wolterstorff; grandchildren: Carol Dennis Nothem, Dale Haas, Henry Julie Meinert, Dave Jackie Meinert, Sue Dave Weber, Tammy Meinert, Tom Natalie Laabs, Kathy Loren McLane, Mike Mary Laabs, Curt Debbie Meinert, Christopher Sara Meinert, Steve Wolterstorff, Russ Amber Wolterstorff and Joe Wolterstorff. Further survived by 27 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by 1 grandson Louis Meinert.
