Merle K. Dobberpuhl

Merle Dobberpuhl, born on February 17, 1920, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, was the only child of Anna and Matthew Scholzen. She passed away on March 23, 2011, following a second major stroke. She was loved and admired by family and friends, and resided in Cedarburg for the past five decades, following 8 years in Randolph, Wisconsin. Merle married Albert Dobberpuhl in 1943, and cared for him after he was disabled by blindness in 1957, until his death in 1990. They had three daughters, Kathleen, Jeanne, and Ruth. Kathleen and her husband, Tom Rathke, live in Virginia and have a daughter and a son and nine grandchildren living respectively in South Carolina and Wisconsin. Jeanne and her husband, Alexander Beddoe, live in California, as do Jeannes two daughters. Ruth Dobberpuhl lives with her daughter in California. Merle spent her life fulfilling her love of music, art, growing flowers, fruits and vegetables, sewing, cooking, baking, and creating a home filled beautiful handmade items. Having spent her childhood summers on Crystal Lake, near Plymouth, Wisconsin, and her school years in Milwaukee, where she was a part of the first graduating class of Rufus King High School, she acquired an equal appreciation for the outdoors and urban culture. She greatly admired Native Americans and appreciated all of the worlds people and cultures. With an open and questioning mind and spirits, she enjoyed a rich life and gained much wisdom. She will be missed by all of us who have loved her with all of our hearts. Family and friends will be contacted regarding a memorial picnic this summer. Merles remains will be buried at St. Johns Lutheran Church Cemetery in Jackson, Wisconsin.
