Mavis Gangstad Mavis Gangstad, of Grafton, formerly of Escanaba, Michigan, passed away on February 21, 2017, at the Lasata Care Center, in Cedarburg, at the age of 93 years. Mavis was born on May 6, 1923, the daughter of the late Orville Hoover and the late Neoma (nee Brown) Hoover. She was later united in marriage to Raymond “Shorty” Gangstad, in Escanaba, and their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Barbara. Mavis was a longtime resident of Escanaba, until she relocated to Grafton, to be closer to her daughter. Mavis is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Robert “Bob”) DeMars, grandchildren, Kris (Randy Hobena) Benz and Paul (Jamie) DeMars, great-grandchildren: Lindsey and Marnie Benz; Joshua (Kerrie Winter) DeMars, Nikolas DeMars, and Micaela DeMars, and great-great grandchildren, Hankston and Ava DeMars. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Mavis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond “Shorty” Gangstad. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, February 27, 2017, 4PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1619 Washington St.), Grafton, with Brenda Cline presiding. Mavis will be in state on Monday, at the church, from 3PM until the time of service. A private entombment will take place at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, Michigan. Memorials to the Ozaukee County Humane Society or to St. Joseph Catholic Church are appreciated.
