Mary G. Schaub (nee Huberty), of Grafton, peacefully passed away on May 24, 2024. She was born on September 11, 1925, to her late parents, William Huberty and Gertrude (nee Walgenbach). She was united in marriage with the late Joseph Schaub on June 24, 1950, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Milwaukee. Together, their marriage was blessed with five children, Theresa (Jonathan Church) Schaub, Joseph (the late James E. Kennedy Jr.) Schaub, Carolyn (Thomas) Laabs, David (Rosemary) Schaub, and Richard (Lisa) Schaub.
Mary graduated from St. Rose Parish School, and from West Division High School in 1944. She worked at the Wisconsin Gas Company until she married. Mary cared for her family and home, and when the children were a little older, she worked part-time at various jobs and then full-time at Mutual Saving Bank, from which she retired.
Mary loved music and she played piano. She made sure her children all took music lessons. She had many interests including concerts and plays, travel (to Florida, Rome, London, and Mexico). She loved to play Uno and Rummikub with family, especially the great-grandchildren. Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very involved at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a lector, communion minister, participant in RCIA and the Women’s Scripture Studies. She was active in the Red Hats Society and the Golden Tones at the Grafton Senior Center.
Mary is survived by her five children; her sister, Louise Huberty; and nine grandchildren, Ricardo Schaub Church (Evelyn), Steven (Lisa) Laabs, Michael (Angela) Laabs, Matthew (Anna) Schaub, Nicholas Schaub, Ashley Schicker, Ryan Schaub, Alisha (Taylor) Last, Eric Schaub (Julie). She is further survived by 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on June 1, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Grafton. Family will receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the church Gathering Space. An inurnment will take place at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church and Los Toros Mission Foundation are appreciated.
