Mary B. Emory

Mary Bernadette Emory (nee Barwick), beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and wife peacefully passed away December 3, 2018, at Lasata Senior Living Campus, while surrounded by loved ones. She was 84 years old. Mary was born on May 29, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Leon and Frances (nee Bertram) Barwick. She spent her early years in Milwaukee before moving to Barton in 1947. After graduating from West Bend High School in 1952 she moved to Milwaukee and worked for Gimbels Department Store. She then relocated to Illinois where she worked at Ridge Farm helping at-risk children, until her marriage to Howard Emory on July 3, 1956. They were married for 48 years before Howard’s passing in 2004. They lived in Saukville from 1973 until July 2012 where her and dad built the home in Saukville and she lived there until 2004. Then she moved in with Kathy, also in Saukville, and was there until the move to Lasata. Mary dedicated her life to caring for children, not just her own but also countless numbers of foster children over the years. Her love of card games, scrabble, Jeopardy and crossword puzzles was only surpassed by the love for her children grandchildren and traveling. Mary was an avid traveler visiting many different countries and loved to learn about the different cultures, customs, languages and was always the first willing to try something new. Mary was a member of the International Institute and hosted people from all over the world. They stayed with her while visiting or attending school here. Mary is survived by her three children Skip (Katie) Emory, Leann Tucker, and Kathy (Curt) Rutkowski, five grandchildren, Courtney Tucker, Curtis, Julia, Jennifer and Caroline Rutkowski, her two sisters Carol Mueller and Annette (Kenneth) Bienlein, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded death in by her son-in-law Russell Tucker, brother Lee Barwick, and brother-in-law, Robert Mueller. Memorial Service for Mary will be held at 5 pm on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Mueller Funeral Home (W63 N527 Hanover Ave. - Cedarburg, WI 53012) with visitation from 3-5 PM with the service to follow. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Lasata for the care provided to Mary for the past six years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
