Marvin Oscar Hoffmann, 90, of the Town of Saukville, entered into the kingdom of Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Marvin was born in Newburg on April 28, 1933, son of Henry and Julia (nee Miller) Hoffmann.
Marvin was the 3rd generation to grow up on the family farm where he learned the value of hard work. As a child he enjoyed showing dairy animals at the Ozaukee County Fair with his brothers. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and most recently his great grandchildren carry on the tradition. He worked a few years at the West Bend Company, where he met his future bride, Eileen Schellinger. They were married on June 9, 1956 in St. Lawrence, WI and settled on the Hoffmann family homestead in Newburg where they farmed for 45 years.
Marvin and Eileen were blessed with four children. They hosted numerous exchange students over the years, first through AFS and then an Agriculture Exchange program which built several life-long and lasting relationships from Norway (Anne Sundt), France (Francoise Gemarin), and Australia (JoAnn Grigg Mclauchlan).
Marvin was a very patriotic individual; believing in God and Country. Marvin served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 with an 18-month tour in Germany. In 2015, he participated in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. He deeply appreciated the mail call with numerous letters of thanks and the welcome home reception.
Marvin was involved for over 25 years in the Town of Saukville government serving on the Plan Commission, as a Town Supervisor, and the Town Chairman. During his tenure as Town Chairman, two major accomplishments that occurred were the purchase of the first and current Town Hall and development of The Bog golf course. During his farming career, he was a member Ozaukee County Dairy Promotion committee, and the WI Farm Bureau. Aside from farming, Marvin enjoyed nature and liked hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. In his retirement years, he enjoyed being outside making wood, and gardening; growing sweet corn and other vegetables. He also enjoyed tinkering on tractors, cars, and other miscellaneous farm equipment.
Marvin is survived by his children: Deborah (James) Senn of Campbellsport, Peggy (Dean) Schoessow of Mequon, Thomas of Saukville, Jerry (Kate) Hoffmann of West Bend. He is further survived by 15 grandchildren: Therese (Jeremy) Keifenheim , Theodore Senn, Travis (Bethany) Senn, Kimberly (David) Rusch, Andrew (Elizabeth) Schoessow, Matthew Schoessow, Michael (Samantha) Schoessow; Bridget (Jeremy) Wichmann, Garrett and Brent Hoffmann, Amy, Nick, Becky, Maggie, and Fritz Hoffmann; 11 great-grandchildren: Korbin and Kingston Keifenheim, Savannah and Campbell Senn, Clara, Levi and Kolby Rusch, Bennett and Marley Schoessow, Colton and Grant Schoessow.
