Martin “Marty” Wegner, of Grafton was Born To Eternal Life on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the home he built, at the age of 91 years old.
Marty was born on May 4, 1932 in Grafton, the son of the late Charles and Emma (Wendtlandt) Wegner. He was the youngest of 4 sons.
Marty married the love of his life, Marlene (Hollrith) September 12, 1953, and passed away 1 month shy of their 70th wedding anniversary.
He is further survived by his six children, Dave (Sandy) Wegner, Grafton, Nancy Wegner, Cedarburg, Mary (Doc) Klotz, New Franken, Liz (Scott) Kosidowski, Grafton, Jeff (Laura) Wegner, Grafton, and Jenny (Michael) Mills, Greenfield, six cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Wegner, Minneapolis, Kevin (Allison) Wegner, Wauwatosa, Kimberly, Zachary and Claire Kosidowski and Nathan Wegner all of Grafton, along with a future great-grandson, and many other relatives and friends.
Marty graduated from Grafton High School, and then enlisted in the US Navy, and was stationed in Pensacola, FL, from 1952-1956. He and Marlene then returned to their hometown of Grafton, where they raised their family.
He worked his whole career as a tool and die maker at Milwaukee Die Cast and finished his career at Midwest Die Casting.
Marty was an active life member of the Rose Harms Legion Post #355 in Grafton. His many jobs over the years were Post Commander, Bar and Hall manager, Tent Crew manager, and anything else that needed to be done.
He loved taking care of his beautiful yard and flower beds, and upon retirement he took up the game of golf. And boy did he golf. When he became a member of Edgewater Golf Course, he kept track of how many times he went out during the season. Usually 60-80, but 2 years ago, after the family teased him to reach a higher goal, he got 100 rounds in before winter.
Marty was all about his family being together, and having a good time, which included having one of his famous Manhattans.
Marty was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Emma, stepmother, Alma, brothers Robert, Alfred, and Edward, and infant son Douglas.
Private family services were held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
