Mark J. Fischer

Mark John Fischer peacefully transitioned to heaven on March 16, 2022, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration, hope, and laughter for all those who knew him. Born in Wilmington, DE on August 30, 1956, Mark grew up with his parents and 8 siblings in and around Milwaukee, WI. He married the love of his life, Kathy Cowan, and spent 40 entertaining years with her. They raised four children that were his pride and joy. Although he would downplay his ability, Mark was naturally creative and a talented artist. His innovation led him to pursue an assortment of jobs before landing at Johnsonville. Though his official title was “creative director”, he was also briefly famous as “guy looking at brats on the grill” during an ad campaign in the early 2000’s. Mark left Johnsonville in 2021 after 30 years of loyalty to the company. He was known for his jokes, puns, limericks, and coining original lyrics to existing songs. He had a love for random coincidences that he affectionately called grackles. Mark loved to laugh and make others laugh, and he had a knack for connecting with people, young and old. Aside from his artistic talents on canvas, he also had a passion for designing landscapes and worked hard for many years to turn 3 acres of farmland into a beautiful backyard. Mark was full of joy, hope, and faith, and the injury he sustained in 2020 couldn’t damper his positive outlook. He truly was and will continue to be an inspiration for all who knew him. Mark is preceded in death by his parents, John and Regina Fischer. He will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind, including his wife Kathy, daughters Emily (Darin), Sarah, and Katie, and son Matthew. Mark was overjoyed to meet his first grandson, Caden. He also leaves behind his 8 beloved siblings and an extended network of relatives and friends. Mark’s funeral will be held at St. Joseph Parish in Grafton on March 24th. There will be a visitation from 2 pm to 3:45 pm, with eulogies beginning at 3:45 and a service at 4 pm. We encourage visitors to join us in wearing Hawaiian shirts or other bright colors, per Mark’s request. For anyone wishing to make a donation in Mark’s name, he requested that any donations directly benefit the SCI (spinal cord injury) and cancer communities. He would be honored by any donation made to an organization that supports one of these causes. His family is raising money specifically for The Ability Center in Wauwatosa.
