In loving memory, Mark A. Kassens December 14, 1959 - May 23, 2014 Mark was born on December 14, 1959. He was the dear son of Marie Ann and late Hugo Kassens. Even as a young child, Mark was dedicated to his family. He frequently looked for ways to help his mom around the house. Mark was very close with his siblings, Tom, Gary, Danny, Dale, Duane, Gwen and Jackie. As the two youngest children, he and Jackie were the best of pals. One day as kids they fixed themselves a lunch and asked a nearby neighbor if they could work for her. Mark had a very strong work ethic that continued to grow with him into adulthood. Mark was a quick-witted guy who was funny, outspoken and outgoing. You could always count on Mark to tell you like it was, rain or shine. He was a kind-hearted and spiritual man. Despite his struggles with illness – he maintained his faith and appreciation for each day life had to offer. Mark had a smile that would light up any room. In 1980, Mark welcomed his first child, Eric, into the world. Soon after, in 1982, his daughter Angie was born. Mark enjoyed outdoor activities with his kids, often taking them fishing at Lake Winnebago, to the park to feed the ducks and sledding. In 1998, he married Lorraine Koerber and welcomed his third child, Amber Cypcar, into the family. He fondly remembered the days of sleigh rides, bon fires and swimming. Mark loved throwing the ball for his dogs, Patches and Pepper. He always vowed to have big dogs until a small love by the name of Missy stole his heart. Soon after, another little pup, Mudge, joined the pack and Mark’s heart was captured – hook, line and sinker. Missy frequently showered him with kisses all over his face – an endearment that Mark loved. In 2010, Mark anticipated the arrival of his first grandson, Haydn (son of Eric and Annie Kassens). In 2013 his heart grew another two feet when he met his second grandson Flynn (son of Angie and Doug Zaeske). Mark was very proud of his grandchildren. He loved them beyond words. Mark had a large extended family and thought very highly of them. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mark passed away on May 23, 2014. He was resting at home with his family. Though his life on earth has come to an end his presence will remain in all of us. Be comforted in knowing that Mark now resides with our Creator. He followed our Leader into the glorious unknown. He now lives a life like no other – this is his great adventure. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 (6:00pm) at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. The family will receive friends on Thursday, at the church, from 4:00-6:00pm. A luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The MACC Fund, The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society are appreciated.
