Marion Thorson (nee Machak)

Of Cudahy, peacefully passed away in her sleep surrounded by the love of her family on May 11, 2024, at the age of 88.

Marion is survived by her three children, Michael, Karen (Jim) Theama, and Joann (Paul) Crivello. She is further survived by nine loving grandchildren, Allan, Anna, Andrew, AJ, Alex, Lindsay, Lucy, Nathan, and Mary, along with many friends and family.

Marion is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob Thorson, who passed away in 1998 and her son, Rob Thorson, who passed away in 2000.

Marion was born on February 2, 1936, in Cudahy, Wisconsin and graduated from Cudahy High School in 1954. She met her husband, Bob, while ice skating at Cudahy’s Sheridan Park Pond, and married him on February 1, 1957. They enjoyed a beautiful marriage over 40 years until Bob’s death in 1998. Marion started working at the Cudahy Savings and Loan in high school and enjoyed that work very much. She was a fantastic stay at home mom, cooking delicious meals and baking yummy cookies and birthday cakes. Some of her recipes continue to be made and enjoyed by her family, like spaghetti and meatballs, lemon bars, and mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies. In addition, Marion loved traveling and spending lots of time with her grandchildren, playing bingo with her sisters over the years, volunteering at her church, and keeping the flower beds at her Cudahy home looking beautiful each season. Also, a highlight at her Cudahy home was hosting an annual Labor Day parade party for her family and friends as the parade route passed right in front of her house. Her famous “brandy slush” drink was always a Labor Day hit.

There will be a Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Parish in South Milwaukee on Friday, May 17, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM with visitation at the church before Mass beginning at 9:30 AM.
