Marion Martha Sundermann

A funeral service will be held on Monday December 7, 2009 1:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home Cedarburg for Marion Sundermann (nee Gerrits), of Denver, CO. formerly of Cedarburg, WI who went to her heavenly home on November 28, 2009 at the age of 84. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12 Noon until time of service. Interment Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Please do not send any flowers. If you wish to donate, please give to Faith Lutheran Church, or the Alzheimer's Association: http://www.alz.org/join_the_cause_donate.asp Marion was born in Cedarburg, WI on May 29, 1925 the daughter of the late Franklin and Edna (nee Gruenwald) Gerrits. Marion grew up in Cedarburg and worked in the family drug store (Gerrits' Rexall). She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison as an Occupational Therapist. She married Arno Sundermann on June 18th, 1948. After graduation, Marion went to work at Mendoda State Hospital while her husband, Arno, earned his pharmacy degree at U of W. Following Arno's graduation from college, they returned to Cedarburg to live and raise their children. Marion was active in many community programs. She served on the state council for the Girl Scouts; was a member of the Cedarburg Women's Club; member of the Cedar Singers; sang in the choir at Faith Lutheran Church; den mom for the Cub Scouts; volunteered at Lasata Nursing Home, where she used her Occupational Therapist training; and was involved in many committees with Faith Lutheran Church. One of Marion's favorite things to do was to spend time in Eagle River, WI, at a family cottage. She would spend most of her summers there until she developed dementia in 1998. Based on recommendations from doctors and friends, Marion was moved to Littleton, CO, to be closer to her children and under the care of an Alzheimer's home. She is survived by two children - Mary Lynn (David) Rossbach and William (Rebecca) Sundermann, and four grandchildren - Katherine, Jennifer, Scott and Mike. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Arno Sundermann, and her son, Thomas Sundermann. Memorials: Please do not send any flowers.
