Marie Margaret Fay (nee Kirst), Hwy I Town of Saukville, was Born to Eternal Life on September 22, 2011, after succumbing to leukemia at age 84. She was born on the Mayer Farm on Belgium-Kohler Rd. on December 4, 1926, to Matthew and Veronica (nee Gasper) Kirst. On May 3, 1947, Marie married Vernon H. Fay at St. Rose of Lima Church, Fredonia. Marie’s teenage years were spent doing housework for Betty and Jac Katheiser. She then worked for the Chair Factory in Port Washington, Meta Mold in Cedarburg, the Pants Factory and Badger Raincoat. After her marriage, she made her children’s clothes, canned and butchered. Marie also worked hard on the farm bailing hay, driving tractor and gardening. She loved her flowers, cats, dogs, rabbits, fishing and polkas. Marie was a very honest person and loved Vernon and her children and grandchildren above all. When the children were grown, she worked at Hawthorne Hills Clubhouse and Hi Tran in Waubeka. Marie is survived by her children Kathleen (Lyle) Rochwite of Campbellsport and Peter (Sharon) Fay of Little Kohler; siblings Joe Kirst of Fredonia, Helen Sanem (sister and best friend) of Port Washington, George (Rita) Kirst of Kewaskum, Eugene (Theresa) Kirst of Plymouth, Robert (Mary Jane) Kirst of Kewaskum; sister-in-law Virginia (Anthony) Geib of Newburg; grandchildren Paula Heilgendorf of Waukesha, Chad Rochwite of Poplar, Charlene Rochwite of Washington DC, Kenny (Meghan) Fay of Batavia WI, Kimberly (Matthew) Hopf of Winter Garden FL, Dominick Fay of Sherman Center and Justin Fay of Sherman Center; great-grandson Keagan of Batavia WI; special neighbor Al (Ginny) Gosewehr; nieces and nephews Rosemary, Wayne, Gary, Diane, Tom, Richard, Linda, Roy, Janet, Mike, Mark, Glen, Carla, Jim, Tom and Margie; other relatives and friends. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, on June 8, 1990; son, Paul, on September 29, 2003; brother-in-law, Leroy Sanem, on October 3, 1996; nephew, James Sanem on May 23, 2005; sister-in-law, Hazel Kirst, on August 7, 2006; her parents, Matthew, on July 25, 1975, and mother, Veronica, n April 23, 2002; grandparents John and Margeritta (nee Deheck) Gasper and Michael and Anna (nee Mehres) Kirst; and in-laws, Edward, on January 2, 1974 and Alma (nee Bohlen) Fay on August 30, 1971. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 6PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg. Fr. Kevin Kowalske will preside. Visitation will be at the church Monday from 4PM until the time of Mass. Interment Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Masses are appreciated. Special thanks to the Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice staff and her nurse, Eileen. Also thanks to Dr. Burfeind and the nurses in oncology at St. Mary’s Ozaukee.
