Marguerite H. Armbruster, 85 A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday September 3rd at St. Francis Borgia Church-South, N44 W6055 Hamilton Road, Cedarburg, for Marguerite Ann Hughes Armbruster, who died on August 29, 2005 at the age of 85. Visitation at the church will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Marguerite was born on April 29, 1920 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the daughter of Richard Vincent and Mary Janssen Hughes. She was the valedictorian of the Class of 1938 at St. Joseph’s Academy, Green Bay, and attended Mount Mary College. She married Ensign John Walter Armbruster, USNR, of Cedarburg on September 28, 1943 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Brooklyn, NY. John preceded her in death on June 15, 1990. For many years, Marguerite co-ordinated the gift shop at the family business, Armbruster Jewelers in Cedarburg. She was also involved in many volunteer pursuits in the Milwaukee area. She was a member of the Milwaukee Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, where she served as Spiritual Development Chair and Libraries and Literature Chair. She taught religious classes at migrant labor camps in Northern Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties for several years. During the Vietnam war era, she distributed rosaries every Tuesday for several years at the Milwaukee induction center to men and women leaving for military training. Marguerite was very active in the Cedarburg community as well. She served on the Cedarburg School Board from 1958 until 1961. She taught fourth grade at St. Francis Borgia School, and was a volunteer catechist for the parish for many years. She was a member of the Cedarburg Woman’s Club and enjoyed working at the annual antique show. For many years, she volunteered her time to assist patients of Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg at Catholic religious services. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lynn Peter Linzmeyer of Leesburg, VA and Sara Michael Bowen of Fox Point. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Colette Linzmeyer Daniel Stanzler of Boston; Bridget Linzmeyer of Reston VA; Lt. Rebecca Bowen Eric Sigmon, USN of Seattle; Christopher A. Bowen of Arlington VA; and John Armbruster Bowen, Marguerite J. Bowen and James H. Bowen of Fox Point. She is also survived by her new great-grandson, William Peter Stanzler, and was the sister-in-law of Rita Moll Hughes of Grafton, and Robert and Mary Aileen Armbruster and Grace Armbruster Pretty, all of Cedarburg. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Peter C. Linzmeyer, and two brothers, William J. Hughes and Richard J. Hughes. The family wishes to thank her kind and compassionate physician, Dr. Salvador Del Rosario, for his care over many years. They are grateful for the kindness and vigilant care she received from the staff of Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center during the last weeks of her life; for the welcome and comfort she received from the staff and residents of Milwaukee Catholic Home over the past two years; and for the prayers and consolation she received from the monks at Holy Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials for Masses, or memorials to Birthright of Loudoun County, 18 Loudoun St. SE, Leesburg VA 20175, or St. Francis Borgia Parish, 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg. Arrangements were handled by Mueller Funeral Home.
