Marceline (Lynn) Paulin Born to Eternal Life on November 19, 2014 at the age of 91 at Lawlis Family Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, 5:30PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grafton. Interment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In state on Tuesday, at the church, 2:30PM until 5:00 PM followed by the Rose Harms American Legion & Auxiliary walkthrough and military service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the William & Iona Hilgart Memorial Fund in care of St Joseph Church or to Family Sharing of Grafton are appreciated. Marceline “Lynn” was born on November 13, 1923 in Grafton, WI, the daughter of William and Iona (Graff) Hilgart. She graduated from Grafton High School. Lynn proudly served her country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. She was a member of the Women Marines Association, of which she served as President of the Wisconsin Chapter for several years, and enjoyed traveling to National WMA conventions. One of her happiest memories was being selected to go on the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight to view the WWII Memorial in Washington DC. Lynn was a 68-year member of Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 and a 9-year member of the Legion Auxiliary Lynn married LeRoy Paulin on August 17, 1950. Their marriage was blessed with five children. Together they opened “Paulin’s Market” in 1956 and continued to operate their “mom and pop” grocery store until their retirement in April 1981. By example both pass on the legacy of a strong work ethic, the importance of honesty, and assistance to those that may need it to their children. When Lynn wasn’t busy raising her five children and working in the store, she enjoyed being a charter member of the Avenue Homemakers, the Catholic Order of Foresters, traveling with her husband, volunteering at Family Sharing in Grafton, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She and LeRoy spent a great deal of time after their retirement at their cottage in Pickerel, WI enjoying fishing and spending time with their children and grandchildren. The occasional opportunity to win at the local casino’s nickel slot machines always brought a twinkle to her eye. Lynn had a heart of gold and was well-respected by her family and friends. She was especially liked by the many loyal customers of their store, to whom she showed many kindnesses over the years. She lived a good life and will be greatly missed by her family. Lynn is survived by her husband of 64 years, LeRoy Paulin. Loving mother of Linda (John) Faas, Anne (Dennis) O’Connor, Katie (Rick) Barton, Barbara (Dean) Buesch, and Frank (Debbie Maynard) Paulin. Proud grandmother of Jason & Jennifer Faas; Jamie, Joseph, Christopher, & William Barton; and Carolyn & Caitlyn Buesch. Dear great-grandmother of Joshua Barton. Fond sister of Beatrice (the late Al) Blank, Jim (Lucy) Hilgart, and Marilyn (the late Leonard) Clemins. Sister-in-law of Eugene Proefrock. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her siblings, William (Dolores) Hilgart, twin-sister Marvelle (Robert) Eernisse, Valeria Hilgart, Frances (Dorothy) Hilgart, Robert Hilgart, and Beverly Proefrock, and sister-in-law Betty (Orville) Dickmann. The family wishes to thank special caregiver and long-time family friend Colleen Torke, the Horizon Hospice, and Ted and Kathy Salkowski for all of their wonderful care and compassion.
