Lorraine B. Strege

Lorraine B. Strege went to her Heavenly Home Sunday, August 25, 2024. Age 89.

Loving wife of the late Armin. Beloved mother of Mark (Jennifer), grandma of the late Alyssa, Connor, Kendyl (Austin), Ryan, and Anna, and great-grandma to John.

Lorraine grew up on a farm in Luxemburg, Wisconsin with two sisters, Sylvia and Gertrude and one brother, Eric. She graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1952, and Door-Kewaunee Normal school and eventually Concordia College, Mequon with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Lorraine taught grade school in Milwaukee and Mequon. Marriage to Armin brought her to Germantown, where they built a home, raised their son, and lived together until Armin’s passing. Trinity Lutheran Church and School brought much fulfillment to her life through her teaching role and also volunteer groups such as Ladies Aid and the Historical Society.

Lorraine was always a teacher at heart, and that is how she interacted with her grandchildren. One of her crowning achievements was the production of a family Christmas program where she played her beloved flute and had her grandchildren sing.

Lorraine kept physically active almost to the end of her life, enjoying long walks, the companionship of the family dogs and cats, and tending flowers and a vegetable garden.

Thank you to the many people who gave her love and support throughout her life. You are very much appreciated. A special thank you to the staff at the Cumberland Trace Senior Living Community and Life’s Journey Hospice for the kind care and attention given to Lorraine the last months of her life.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 5:30 PM, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 10729 W Freistadt Road, Mequon.  Private family burial will take place the following day at the church cemetery.  A visitation will take place, on Friday, at the church from 3:30 PM to 5:15 PM.
