Lois J. Gruber

We said a solemn goodbye to mom on Friday, July 17, 2020, entrusting her soul to our Lord. Lois Joanne Robinson was born December 4, 1934 in St. Paul, MN, and attended Central High School and Hamline University in St. Paul. Lois was a beautiful, graceful mom, sister, wife and grandma. She lived a life of quiet dignity for 85 long years. A master gardener, she loved flora and fauna, and taught her children so much about both. She had a beautiful and strong soprano voice, and sang in Milwaukee’s Bel Canto Chorus for many years. Passed down from her own mom Lois, she was an incredible cook, and fed her family wonderful meals over the years. She was one of the few remaining from that Greatest Generation which has seen so much in their lifetimes. Lois is survived by her children Elizabeth Muffley Merk and David John Merk (and wife Janet Merk), sister Beth Rutherford, and brother Norm Robinson, and grandsons John and Jack Merk. Also survived by special niece Kristy Clum. Preceded in death by her parents Norm and Lois (Muffley) Robinson, sister Marilyn Bruce, and husbands John Merk and David Gruber. The family wishes to express genuine gratitude to her many friends in her later years; and Cedarburg Health Services and Mueller Funeral Home for their loving care. A private memorial gathering is planned for autumn (for more information contact dmerk@bizjournals.com).
