Lillian Mary Wilhelm

Lillian Mary (Lubner) Wilhelm Found peace on September 25, 2017 at the age of 96 years. Cherished wife of the late Roy M. Wilhelm of Birnamwood, Wisconsin. Beloved mother of Mary (Gordon) Guslick, Morrie, Richard (Kim), Roy Jr. (Julie) and Holly (Thomas) Spaeth. Proud grandmother of Michael Guslick and Katie Guslick Ellis (Nic); Matt Wilhelm(Dawn), and Luke Wilhelm(Joanna); Elizabeth and Max Wilhelm. Preceded in death by 12 siblings: Joseph, Emil, Henry, Herman, Julia, Irene, Frank, John, Charles, Louise, Alfred (a.k.a. Buddy), and Richard. Survived by sisters-in-law Lorraine (Wilhelm) Riemer and Rosalie (Wilhelm) Kiehnau, and many other dear relatives and friends. Lillian’s life was one of devout faith and service to her family. She set an example of the very highest standard moral code of living. She lived through the Great Depression, World War II, and other upheavals of our recent past. She was practical, thrifty, and worked hard for her family, and always had an unshakeable faith in her Church. Her great pride and joy was her 6 grandchildren, and she kept close contact with not only her own siblings and their families but those of her husband’s family as well, and was always delighted to visit with any and all in relation to her. Lillian was known to have met many challenges in her long life, and overall enjoyed good health much as a result of her prudent lifestyle choices. Like many others of her era, her formal schooling stopped after she graduated from eighth grade, but this did not keep her from lifelong learning and she set a high priority of academic achievement for her children. During the WWII era she worked at the Gilbert Shoe Factory in Thiensville until the time of her marriage in 1948. She was a woman who was never afraid to tackle a situation to the best of her ability, and she did so in a responsible, tactful, ladylike way. In other words, she was a real “class act”. A service honoring her life and memory will be held on Saturday, October 7th at St. Francis Borgia North in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. with Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Private burial at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Francis Borgia Church and/or donations to the Red Cross for hurricane relief are appreciated. Lillian’s family would like to thank the staff at Lasata Care Center for their years of wonderful care and concern for which we are extremely grateful. She will be missed very much.
