Lillian Kohlwey, 96, of Grafton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Lasata Care Center on January 12, 2019. Lillian was born on April 1,1922 in Grafton, WI the daughter of Erwin and Beata (Heidtke) Groth. On May 18,1946 Lillian married Benoit Kohlwey at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedarburg. She was first and foremost a homemaker, taking care of her family until her children were older, when she then worked at First Immanuel School in the hot lunch program. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother always putting family first. Lillian found great faith and peace at First Immanuel Church where she attended faithfully throughout her life. She was active in the Ladies’ Aid Group and LWML at church and a volunteer at Bethesda Thrift Store in Milwaukee for many years. She was a 4-H leader for the Town and Country 4-H Club while the children were growing up. Lillian enjoyed travelling, quilting, making rag rugs, knitting and crocheting. She donated many homemade hats, prayer shawls and lap blankets to those in need. She was famous for her homemade pickles which she graciously shared with family and friends. Lillian is survived by sons Donald (Sandra), Keith (Lois), Kevin (Janet) and son-in-law Paul Laubenstein. She is further survived by grandchildren Amy (Alan) Daniels, Matthew Laubenstein, Kimberly (William) Krolick, Kyle, Bryan (Amy), Amanda, Kelly (Steve) Grosskreutz, step-grandchildren Jennifer Grosskreutz, Cory Rammer, Ryan (Julie) Rammer and Elizabeth (Jonathon) Carlson, 23 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Anita Prochnow, Florence Radtke, Renata Rappold, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and multiple friends. Preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara, grandson Eric, siblings Ethel (Charles) Denow, Franklin (Norma) Groth, Myrtle (Elmer) Laubenstein, Mae (Robert) Cram, Doris (Glenn) Cram, brothers-in-law Walter (Dorothea), Ruben (Evelyn), George Jr. (Shirley), Alfred Prochnow, Gerald Rathke, and Kenneth Rappold, sisters-in-law Georgiana (Milton) Rettmann, Esther (Martin) Koeller, Eleonora (Bernard) Dobberpuhl, A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 – 12:30 PM at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd., Cedarburg. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Memorials may be made out to First Immanuel Church or charity of choice. Special thanks from the family to Lasata Care Center and Compassus Hospice for the kind, loving care given to Lillian.
