Leo A. Thiel

Of Port Washington, formerly of Cedarburg died peacefully at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI on February 3, 2024 at the age of 86. Leo was born in Des Plaines, IL on March 24, 1937 to Leo S. and Caroline (Szczerbicki) Thiel. He met Patricia C. Grambor, the love of his life shortly out of high school and they were married on May 28, 1960 in Barrington, IL. Leo served in the Army right after they were married, and he was extremely patriotic and proud of his military service and the life experience it gave him.

Leo and Patti enjoyed almost 64 years of loving marriage and raising a beautiful family, residing the last 48 years in Cedarburg. He spent his entire business career of 35 years working as an extremely successful sales manager for Cadillac Plastic and Chemical Co. in various branches throughout the Midwest until he retired in 1997. His career afforded him the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world with his wife and to take his family on many beautiful vacations as well. He and Patti owned a condo in Breckenridge, CO and enjoyed many years of skiing.

Leo is survived by his wife Patti; daughter Sandie (Kevin) Heinecke; son Steve (Nora) Thiel; Grandchildren: Ethan, Sam, Hannah, Olivia and Michael; sister Dorothy Brady; as well as nephews: Bernard, Paul (Rhoda), Dennis (Diana) and niece Jennifer. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; baby sister Leona, as well as granddaughter’s Lily and Liane.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 – 3:00 PM at St. John XXIII St Peter’s Campus in Port Washington, WI. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 1:00 PM – 2:45 PM. Inurnment will be held at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
