Lena Marie Mills

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2008 2PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton, for Lena Marie Mills who passed away peacefully and now is with her Lord on February 29, 2008 at the Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, at the age of 98 yrs. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church, from 12 Noon until 2PM. The Rev. Paul Bulgerin will officiate the memorial service. Lena Marie (nee Niehoff) Mills was born on January 28, 1910 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, daughter of the late William Niehoff and the late Lena (nee Weller) Niehoff. She later married the late George H. Mills in Milwaukee, on March 28, 1931. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Lena was an active member at Grace Lutheran Church and was a co-chairman on the prayer chain at the church. Lena was a resident of the month at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, as she was nominated for her beautiful smile. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and by anyone who came in contact with her infectious smile. Lena also enjoyed being a member of the quilting club at Grace Lutheran Church, crossword puzzles, playing bingo, and baking for almost anyone. Lena will be remembered for her blueberry muffins and her cookies. Lena is survived by her children: Beverly J. Melder and Don C. Mills, grandchildren; David (Tammy) Melder, Gary (Linda) Melder, Ron (Debi) Melder, and Mark (Robin) Mills, great-grandchildren; Joshua, Sarah, Rebekah, and Deanna Melder, Michael Mills, Stephanie (Jeremy) Jurek, and Valerie (David) Gaines, great-great-grandchildren; Ryan and Emily Jurek, sister, Lillian Meshnick, special friends Dick and Judy Raddatz, many other relatives and friends. Lena was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Mills and son, George A. Mills. Deep gratitude and heartfelt thanks goes out to her doctor, nurses, aides, social worker, janitorial staff, friends, activities and all other who loved her and cared for her at Lasata Care Center.
