Lee F. Headington

Lee Headington of Port Washington, WI was taken home for eternal rest surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Lee was born to Hugh and Laverne Headington in Decorah, Iowa. He grew up in Decatur, IL. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. He attended The School of Mines in Rolla, MO, graduating with a degree in engineering. He met and married Judy Moehle while in Rolla, together they raised 3 children. Lee Received his master’s degree from The University of Louisville.

Lee loved learning and had many hobbies. One that was especially fun to him was photography. He loved car rides and would look for old barns, windmills, interesting landscape, and construction projects to document. He would always tell my girls to take the scenic route, you never know what you’ll see.

When WE Energies dismantled the smokestacks, he was there every day documenting it, he even got questioned about his intentions. Another project he documented from start to finish was the flagpole at Acuity in Sheboygan. Lake Michigan was his favorite subject. He was also a big fan of the old-time movies and would text or call if he felt it was one you had to watch, which happened often. When he was younger, he loved fishing, golfing and bowling. He was also an avid reader.

Lee was ahead of his time with technology. His driving force was keeping up with the grandchildren. It was important to him to be able to stay in touch and he knew exactly how to do that.

He loved them so much and was so proud of the happy successful adults they became.

Lee loved his parents and when his mom moved back to Decorah, he would visit her often. He would drive to her place in the morning, enjoy lunch, and drive home. He missed her and his sister Julie terribly.  Recently saying that he had talked to them, and they were waiting for him. He said he was tired and ready to see them. He was a man of faith, and his family meant the world to him.

He loved his weekly lunch dates with his “girls”, Hannah, and Sarah. He said they always brought a lot of fun and laughter to the lunchroom. He was always happy to get photos, texts, and facetimes. He was easy to love and so easy to care for. Recently, when I knew it was hard for him, he always tried to make it easy for me. Every time I left, he would say “Love you kid, I don’t know what I’d do without you.” I love you too dad and I am so grateful for your constant love, support and presence in our lives. You will be missed and thought of everyday. Don’t worry Dad, we’ll take the scenic route.

He is survived by his children: Kymber (Brian) McCutcheon, Brian (Kathy Wright) and Marta Headington; Grandchildren: Jacob (Erika), Hannah, Sarah McCutcheon, and Brad Headington (Beth Hamilton): Great grandchildren Miles and Daphne McCutcheon.  He is further survived by sister Muriel (the late George) Albers; Brothers: Dennis (Louise), Frank (Barb) Tom (Becky); many nieces and nephews, former wife and friend Judy Hed and Sister-in-law Marlo (Carl) Tully.
