Lawrence 'Red' Entress

Lawrence Red Entress passed away at home on Friday October 1, 2010 at the age of 83 years. Red was born in Whitewater, WI on March 21, 1927 to the late Emil & Lucile (nee Lutz) Entress and married Carol (nee Haseley) on June 12, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Red graduated from Janesville High School in 1945, graduated from the University of WI Whitewater in 1954 and went to the University of Iowa in Iowa City were he received his Masters degree. Red served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946, WWII and was honorably discharged. He was stationed in the Pacific theatre and the survey ship at Bikini Island. For four years on Friday nights Red played semi professional football for the Delavan Red Devils and on Saturdays he played football for the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. In 1972 Red was inducted into the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Football hall of fame. He started his teaching career in Thiensville. He became principal and teacher at Pleasant Valley School and ended his career after many years as principal of Westlawn Elementary in Cedarburg. He also was a member of the Cedarburg Lions Club, Peter Wollner American Legion Post, he was a docent at the Cedarburg General Store and was a Stephen Minister at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. He will be deeply missed by his wife Carol of Cedarburg, his children; Jeffrey (Patricia) of Brookfield & Jill (Richard) Cooper of Grafton, grandchildren; Emily, Carolyn & Alec Entress of Brookfield, Kaitlyn, Carly & Jimmy Cooper of Grafton, sister Marion (Bill) Moore of Scottsdale, AZ. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 8, 2010, 1 PM at First Immanuel Lutheran Church W67 N622 Evergreen Blvd. Cedarburg. Interment Immanuel Cemetery.
